Grand St. Stompers
Friday | August 3rd, 2012 | 8:30pm
Gordon Au, who leads the Au Brothers Band, is bringing his New York based Grand St. Stompers to Midtown Stomp on August 3rd, 2012 for a night of incredible swing dancing. The Grand St. Stompers are a popular dance band back east, know how to play for dancers, and will thrill you with their music!
The Grand St. Stompers is a swinging-hot traditional jazz band led by rising young trumpeter Gordon Au. With one foot stomping in vintage tradition and the other in modern style, they delight audiences with everything from Louis Armstrong hits and New Orleans favorites to exciting originals, covers of famous classical themes, and even their own joyous adaptations of Disney, TV, film, and pop music. Their appeal to both young and old – to both swing dancers and sit-down music lovers, has earned them a devoted and diverse following in their hometown of New York City.
The Stompers have been featured at the Louis Armstrong House Museum (NY), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY), Swing Out New Hampshire (dance camp), Boston Swing Central, Stompology Jazz Dance Weekend (Rochester), New Jersey Swing, the Brooklyn Library Plaza Swing Series, Gypsy Jam Weekend (NYC), Jam Circle Friday (NYC), the Vintage NYC Subway Trains swing dance series, White Heat NYC (swing dance series), Swingeasy (NYC dance series), Swing Remix (NYC dance series), Bobo's Halloween Masquerade Ball (NYC), the DIY Bushwick Music Festival, the Living Room (NYC), the Cupping Room (NYC), Radegast Hall & Biergarten (Brooklyn), Shanghai Mermaid (Brooklyn), Jalopy Theatre (Brooklyn), Pilsener Haus (Hoboken), and many other festivals, exchanges, dances, and venues.
