Swing Dancing Every Friday Night

On a recent trip to Oregon, some of our dancing friends stumbled upon Bathtub Gin and couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they had dancing to them. So we teamed up with a few people to figure out a way to bring them to our stage to play for y’all!

September 27th – Parker and the Weis Guys – $18

We’ve danced to the sounds of Parker Weis’ honkin’ sax and sweet clarinet many times with bands like Crescent Katz and the West End Stompers. You’ve probably also seen him on stage talking about swingin’ tunes with our DJs. His own band is so much fun we’re excited to have him back. So Parker and the Weis Guy are hitting the stage again.

October 4th – DJ’d Dancing – $12

We love live music but sometimes a good old DJ night can make for an incredible night. Our DJs will spin your favorite Swing, Jazz, and Jump Blues for your dancing pleasure. Your requests are always welcome so just ask your friendly DJ for the songs that you love to swing dance to.

Thursday, October 10th – Rocklin Swings – $12

Our first dance in Rocklin was so much fun that we had to do it again!

So we’re back on Thursday, October 10th for another night of swing dancing fun!

No experience or partner is needed.

There’s a 30-minute beginning 6-Count Swing lesson at 7:30 pm that is included in the $12 cover charge. We’ll have mics for the instructors this time so you’ll be able to hear better.

The lesson will get you out on the floor and dancing. It also rotates so you’ll meet people to dance with later.
After the lesson, we’ll dance to some amazing swinging music from 8-10:30 pm.

We’ll be dancing at the beautiful Chalet Event Center located at 5450 China Garden Rd, Rocklin, CA 95677

October 11th – Steve Lucky and Rhumba Bums – $18

Steve, Carmen, and the gang were so much fun in May that we had to have them back! If you were there, you know what we’re talking about. If you missed it then come find out. We could gush about them for days. They swing hard. Their musicianship is off the charts. They make us want to boogie. Heck, they’ve even been known to cut a rug themselves!

October 18th – SwingMasters Big Band – $18

In the swing dancing era, most of the bands playing for swing dancers were big bands. Nowadays, it is difficult to find a big band that plays music specifically for swing dancing. Fortunately, Sacramento has the SwingMasters, a 17-piece band that is ready to swing you around in any direction you want. If you have never danced to a full big band, this is the night to try it!

October 25th – Halloween Swing Dance and Costume Contest – DJ’d Dancing – $12

Ghouls, Ghost, and Goblins lend me your ears! Wait no, not your actual ears! Okay, let’s try this again.

Halloween is almost here and that means it’s time to put on your best costume and dance the night away at Midtown Stomp! Midtown Stomp’s Halloween Costume Party is one of those nights you can’t miss! Contest winners from the past have been awesome and included “The Battleship”, “Adam” (without Eve), and “The Mad Hatter”. You too can be immortalized in the Midtown Stomp history books!

We’ll start with swinging DJ’d tunes and then around 10:15 pm, we’ll take a break to give those who want to (usually almost everybody does) a chance to parade across the floor and show off their amazing costumes and sometimes awesome (or silly) acting ability. Of course, you don’t have to wear a costume, but we promise it’s more fun if you do.

October 27th – Hug It Out – October Edition – $10

Grab your fast-dancing shoes and get ready to burn up the floor. Our monthly Balboa and Shag focused dance is on a special date in October.

This month Edward and Hester are teaching an Intermediate Shag class! Plus Paul and Rachelle are teaching the Beginning Shag class.

No partner? No problem. The class is social and rotate partners and you’ll meet a ton of cool, new people. Do you have a partner and only want to dance with them? That’s cool with us too. When the class rotates just stay with your favorite person.

November 1st – Harley White Jr. Orchestra – $18

We’re excited to welcome the Harley White Jazz Orchestra back to the stage. They’re bringing back the swingin’ tunes of the Harlem Hit Parade! Harley is a staple of the Sacramento Jazz, Blues, and Funk scenes, and if you’ve seen live music in this town you’ve probably heard him play. With the perfect mix of Duke Ellington and Count Basie’s sound and incredibly talented players, this is sure to be a great night of dancing.

November 8th – DJ’d Dancing – $12

Our DJs will play some awesome swing dancing music for you to get down to!

November 15th – DJ’d Dancing – $12

Are you ready to dance the night away? Us too! Get hyped because our DJs will be taking the stage this Friday night and are going to bring the heat.

November 22nd – Peter and the Groove Mechanics – $18

Fiddle-playing Peter Vawter and his band of amazing musicians are hitting our stage again to make you groove all night! Don’t think the fiddle swings? Come see for yourself.

November 29th – The Au Brothers – $18

Justin and Brandon Au are fixtures on our scene with bands like the West End Stompers, Harley White Jr. Orchestra, and the Crescent Katz. But they have a third brother, Gordon, who lives back east. When he’s in town they combine their musical prowess into the Au Brothers and magic happens!

We have an awesome venue, we have awesome DJs, and now all we need is your awesome self to make the night complete!

December 13th – Geoff Miller and the Rockin’ Two – $18

Geoff Miller is a friend of ours and you might know him from the Twilight Drifters. He’s no stranger to our stage. You can also find him out on the dance floor, so he knows what dancers like. Geoff Miller and the Rockin’ Two is his new project that’s swinging hard for dancers. We’re excited to have him on December 13th and we’re sure you’re going to love it!

December 27th – Dean Mora and his Capital Rhythmists – $18

Dean Mora’s an old-school dance music guy whose bands have played places like Camp Hollywood. His debut night was so awesome that we had to get him back on the schedule quickly. This is the opening night of our Midsummer Mashup workshop weekend so it will be extra awesome. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be taking the workshops to dance with us!
